Categories

Alpiness is a coliving and coworking house in Les Hauderes, a village in the Swiss Alps at the head of the Val d'Herens. It has private and shared rooms, a coworking space, a gym and a bouldering wall, with operator-reported 400 Mbps internet. Shared rooms start around 900 Swiss francs a month and private rooms around 1,590, with a 15 night minimum.

Alpiness: remote work at the top of a Swiss valley

Alpiness is a coliving in Les Hauderes, a village in the Val d'Herens surrounded by four thousand metre peaks and glaciers. It was opened in 2023 by Fabienne and Ben, two former full-time nomads who wanted a place that combined remote work with mountains and a small local community.

What Alpiness Does

  • Private and shared rooms in one house. Shared rooms at the entry rate, private rooms roughly seventy percent higher.
  • A real coworking setup. Dedicated desks and communal spaces, with operator-reported 400 Mbps, which is not a given in an alpine village.
  • A gym and a bouldering wall on site. Built for the kind of guest who came for the mountains and still wants to train on a bad weather day.
  • Ski and hiking access. The Val d'Herens is a working alpine valley rather than a resort, so the terrain is close and the crowds are not.
  • A 15 night minimum. Long enough to settle into the rhythm of a remote village.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Switzerland is normally out of reach for a nomad budget. A month here at 900 francs for a shared room is not cheap in absolute terms, but it is a fraction of what staying in the Alps usually costs, and it includes the workspace and the gym.

The village setting is the point and also the trade. Les Hauderes is small and remote, the seasons dictate what you can do, and getting there takes a train and then a bus up the valley. If you want nightlife and a choice of restaurants, this is the wrong place. If you want to close your laptop and be on a trail in ten minutes, there are few better setups anywhere.

Ratings are unusually strong, at 5.0 across more than fifty Google reviews, which for a place this small suggests the hosting is the differentiator.

Pricing

From around 900 Swiss francs a month for a shared room and around 1,590 for a private one, with a 15 night minimum.

The rare mountain coliving where the internet is as good as the view.
