Amplitude: a purpose-built coliving in Puerto Escondido

Amplitude was built as a coliving rather than converted into one, in La Punta at the quieter end of Puerto Escondido. The design priorities are visible in the specification: a desk in every private room, an air-conditioned coworking lounge, and internet with a backup plan.

What Amplitude Does

• Private rooms with a desk in each. No hot-desking for a spot at the kitchen table, which matters when the house is full.
• Fibre plus Starlink, plus backup power. Two independent connections and a plan for outages, in a part of Mexico where both are real risks.
• An air-conditioned coworking lounge. The one room where the afternoon heat is not a factor in whether you get anything done.
• A shared kitchen and open-air common areas. Cooking together is the default rather than the exception.
• Weekly events and wellness sessions. Yoga on the deck, group dinners and the usual coliving rhythm of organised and unorganised time.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

La Punta is where Puerto Escondido's remote workers ended up: a walkable strip of surf, cafes and yoga a few minutes from the break, distinct from the busier Zicatela end. It has become one of the more established nomad spots in Mexico, which cuts both ways on price.

The infrastructure is the reason to pick this place specifically. Puerto Escondido has a reputation for internet that fails exactly when you need it, and a coliving running fibre alongside Starlink with backup power has removed the main argument against working from there.

At around 1,300 dollars a month it is priced well above local rents. You are paying for the redundancy, the air conditioning and not having to solve any of it yourself.
