Bencomo: five rooms on the green side of Tenerife

Bencomo is a small coliving in Santa Ursula, on Tenerife's northern slopes above the Orotava valley. With five private rooms it is closer to a shared house than a coliving business, and the routine reflects that: morning yoga, then work, then everyone eats together.

What Bencomo Does

• Five private rooms, no dorms. Comfort and premium tiers, but the house stays small either way.
• Morning yoga and shared dinners. The two fixed points that give the week a shape.
• A coworking setup for the house. Sized for the five people staying, not for drop-ins.
• A 15 night minimum. Half a month, which suits people testing the island before committing.
• The north of Tenerife. Green, agricultural and far quieter than the resort south.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Tenerife has two personalities. The south is dry, sunny and full of resorts; the north is green, cooler, dramatically more Spanish and where Teide's forests and the Anaga mountains are. Most nomads default to the south and miss this entirely.

Santa Ursula puts you in the middle of the northern side, with La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz nearby and the national park up the hill. It is a good base if hiking rather than beach time is your reason for coming.

Two things to know. The north gets noticeably more cloud and rain than the south, which is exactly why it is green. And stays under a month require proof of a work contract, which is an unusual condition worth clearing before you book.

Pricing

From around 837 euros a month for a private room, roughly 30 euros a night, with a 15 night minimum. Premium rooms are priced above that.
