Burgas Coliving: the Bulgarian coast instead of the mountains

Burgas Coliving is a large house near Burgas, the port city on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. Most of Bulgaria's remote-work reputation comes from Bansko in the mountains, so a coastal option with the same cost base is a useful alternative.

What Burgas Coliving Does

• A coworking space on site. Set up for full working days rather than a laptop on the dining table.
• Beach and city together. Burgas has a long beach and a proper city centre, which is rare on this coast.

• Year-round operation. Unlike much of the Black Sea coast, which shuts down outside summer.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Bulgaria is the cheapest place in the EU to live well. It has a flat ten percent income tax, fast internet almost everywhere, and prices that make a month cost what a week does further west. The country is also in the EU, so for European passport holders there is no visa question at all.

Burgas specifically is a working city with a university, an airport with cheap flights, and beaches within the city limits. Compared with Bansko it trades ski access for sea and a year-round urban rhythm, and compared with Varna it is smaller and quieter.

Two things to note. Summer on this coast is busy with domestic and Eastern European tourism, and the nomad community here is much smaller than in Bansko, so you will do more of your own socialising.
