Calergi Residence: studios outside Rethymno
Calergi Residence is a small boutique resort in Atsipopoulo, on the hill above Rethymno on Crete's north coast. It offers studios, apartments and suites rather than shared coliving rooms, and takes remote workers on longer stays alongside its regular guests.
What Calergi Does
- Studios, apartments and suites. Self-contained units rather than rooms in a shared house, so you get your own kitchen and bathroom.
- Around 800 euros a month for a studio. Which for a private unit on Crete is competitive.
- Coworking space for longer stays. Alongside the resort facilities.
- A hillside position near Rethymno. Beaches nearby and the Venetian old town a short drive down.
- Consistently well reviewed. 4.6 across 85 reviews, mostly from regular resort guests.
Why It Makes Sense for Nomads
Crete is the largest and most self-sufficient Greek island, which makes it the most realistic one for a long stay. It has real cities, an airport with year-round flights, mountains, and a growing season that keeps food cheap and excellent. Rethymno in particular has a university, so it stays alive outside the tourist months.
A self-contained studio is a different proposition from a coliving room. You get privacy, a kitchen and no housemates, which suits couples, people on calls all day, and anyone who has done shared living and is finished with it.
Set expectations on community. This is a residence rather than a coliving, so the social side is whatever you build in town. Pricing detail is also thin on the site, so ask directly for monthly rates.

A private base on Crete for people who want the island, not the housemates.
