Cape Coliving: a Green Point villa with the power on

Cape Coliving occupies a Cape Victorian villa in Green Point, on Cape Town's Atlantic Seaboard, with nine en-suite rooms and an additional cottage. It has a pool, a 360 degree rooftop terrace, and, importantly for South Africa, 24 hour electricity.

What Cape Coliving Does

  • Nine en-suite suites plus a cottage. Every room private, with tiers from standard up to a master suite.
  • 24 hour electricity and fast wifi. Backup power is the single most important amenity in a South African coliving, and it is the one most listings skip.
  • A pool and rooftop terrace. In a secure, central location on the Atlantic Seaboard.
  • Walking distance to most of the city. Green Point sits between the V&A Waterfront, Sea Point promenade and the city bowl.
  • Retreats and monthly community tours. Organised programming alongside the standard stay.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Cape Town is one of the best-value major cities in the world for remote work, with a favourable exchange rate, world-class food and wine, mountains and beaches inside the city, and a summer that runs while Europe is dark. South Africa also introduced a remote work visa, which makes longer stays cleaner.

Green Point is the practical choice of neighbourhood: safe, central, walkable, and next to the promenade. Backup power turns the city's biggest working risk into a non-issue.

The honest note is price. At around 2,069 euros a month for a queen suite in summer, this is priced for the international market rather than the local one, and summer is the expensive season. Rates fall for longer stays and outside the peak.

Pricing

From around 2,069 euros a month for a queen suite on a three month summer booking, tiered by season and length of stay. Seven night minimum.

Expensive for South Africa, and the reason is the electricity as much as the villa.
