Casa Basilico

Categories

Casa Basilico runs pop-up colivings built around food and shared dinners, with chapters in Puglia, Pipa in Brazil, Madeira, Mexico, Morocco and Spain. Rates run from around 997 euros a month for a standard double in Puglia to roughly 1,997 and up for chalets in Brazil. Each chapter is hand-picked, capped and run with a community manager, and applicants apply rather than simply book.

Casa Basilico: pop-up colivings that revolve around dinner

Casa Basilico runs dated coliving chapters in a handful of countries, and the organising idea is food. Every chapter is built around communal cooking and long shared dinners, with a community manager on site and a hand-picked group rather than open booking.

What Casa Basilico Does

  • Chapters that move. Puglia in the Italian late summer, Pipa in Brazil over Carnival, plus Madeira year-round and past editions in Mexico, Morocco and Spain.
  • Application rather than instant booking. The group is curated, which is how a dinner-party format stays a dinner-party format.
  • A range of room types. Standard doubles in Puglia from around 997 a month, chalets in Brazil from roughly 1,997 up to 3,197 for two bedrooms.
  • Two week or full month options. Puglia can be booked as a half chapter; Brazil runs on a 28 night minimum.
  • A community manager on site. Someone whose job is the group rather than the building.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Pop-up colivings solve the problem that rolling houses cannot: everyone arrives at once, so the group actually forms. Casa Basilico takes that further by making meals the centre of the day, which is a more natural way to bond than an organised activity.

The locations are well chosen. A Puglian masseria in September and Pipa during Carnival are both genuinely good calls, and each chapter is priced and dated clearly so you can plan around it.

Two things to weigh. Prices are at the higher end of coliving, especially in Brazil, and the application step means you cannot decide on short notice. Both are deliberate, and both are what keep the format working.

Pricing

From around 997 euros a month for a standard double in Puglia; Brazil chalets from roughly 1,997 to 3,197 a month by room type. Deposit required.

The strongest argument for pop-up colivings, made mostly at the table.
