Casa Kandamy: movement and work in the Colombian hills
Casa Kandamy is a coliving retreat in Tobia, in the hills a couple of hours northwest of Bogota. The distinguishing feature is movement: Sebas, the host, is a movement teacher, and guided practice is part of the daily structure rather than an optional class.
What Casa Kandamy Does
- Four tiers of private room. From the Totumal at around 57 US dollars a night to San Luis at 69, all with private bathrooms.
- Movement training led by the host. Guided practices as a core part of the stay, alongside the working day.
- An open coworking space with mountain views. Multiple working positions and standing desks.
- A 30 night minimum. With 5 to 20 percent discounts as the stay lengthens.
- A green river valley setting. Tobia is a small town known for rafting and canyoning, surrounded by forest.
Why It Makes Sense for Nomads
Colombia's nomad scene concentrates in Medellin and, increasingly, Bogota. Almost nobody goes to the small towns in between, which is where the country is cheapest and least filtered by tourism.
The movement focus is the reason to pick this over a city coliving. Working remotely is a sedentary occupation, and a house where structured physical practice is built into the day is a genuinely different proposition from one with a gym in the basement.
Two things to be clear about. Nightly pricing means a month runs to roughly 1,700 dollars before discounts, which is expensive for rural Colombia, and the location is remote enough that you are committing to the house and its programme rather than to a city.
Pricing
From 57 to 69 US dollars a night by room tier, with 5 to 20 percent discounts on longer stays and a 30 night minimum.
For a reset month where the training is the point, rather than a cheap base.
