Casa Pardal: slow living an hour from Barcelona

Casa Pardal is a rural coliving in La Fortesa, a fortified village near Calaf in inland Catalonia. It is small on purpose, holding between four and twelve people, and the hosts describe what they are doing in terms of slowing down rather than networking. Their own phrasing is that it is not a coworking bubble.

What Casa Pardal Does

  • A house for four to twelve people. Small enough that the group eats together and knows each other properly.
  • A 17th century village setting. Rural Catalonia rather than the coast, with the countryside as the daily backdrop.
  • Yoga, art and community activities. Run as part of daily life, with a 20 euro weekly contribution towards community meals.
  • Coworking spaces and shared areas. Plus coworking passes and team building for groups.
  • Pet friendly. Rare in colivings and decisive if you travel with an animal.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Barcelona is an hour away, which is the right distance: close enough for a day in the city or an airport run, far enough that you are properly in the countryside and paying countryside prices.

Inland Catalonia is a genuinely different Spain from the coast. Medieval villages, empty hiking, local markets and almost no international tourism. For a month of focused work with quiet weekends, it is a strong and cheap option.

Two honest points. Rural Catalonia effectively requires a car, and the size means it books out and cannot absorb a last-minute arrival. Room rates are also not published, so booking starts with a WhatsApp or an email.

Pricing

From around 22 euros a night, roughly 700 a month, with a two week minimum and a 20 euro weekly contribution for shared meals. Room rates are confirmed on enquiry.

The antidote to a city coliving, at a price that makes a long stay easy.
