Categories

iSlow is a family-focused coliving in Laxe on the Galician coast of northern Spain, created because most colivings have no room for children. It pairs a dedicated coworking area for the parents with play spaces, a garden, forest and beach access and activities for the kids, plus baby kit like cribs and high chairs. The premise is that it takes a village, so the community shares the childcare load rather than leaving each family to solve it alone.

iSlow Coliving: the coliving that actually wants your kids there

What iSlow Does

  • Family-sized coliving in Galicia: accommodation in Laxe on the Costa da Morte, surrounded by beaches, forest and a stretch of coast most nomads never reach.
  • Real spaces for children: a play area with its own kitchenette, a reading corner and an experimentation garden, plus direct forest and beach access.
  • Activities that are not just childcare: surf lessons, kayaking, bodyboarding, craft workshops and language classes in English, Spanish and Galician.
  • Two kinds of workspace: a separate quiet coworking area for calls and deep work, and shared spaces where you can work with a child in the room.
  • Baby logistics handled: changing tables, high chairs and cribs on site, so you are not flying with a travel cot.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Coliving is a solved problem if you are one adult with a laptop. Arrive with a four-year-old and most spaces range from awkward to openly unwelcoming, because the rooms are sized for one, the schedules assume evenings are social, and nobody has thought about where a child goes at 3pm.

iSlow was built specifically to close that gap. The operating philosophy is that it takes a village to raise a child, which in practice means the other families are part of the childcare arrangement rather than people you are apologising to. That is a genuinely different proposition from booking a family apartment somewhere and hoping to meet people.

The location helps too. Rural Galicia is cheap by Western European standards, safe, walkable, and has the kind of outdoors that keeps children occupied without a screen or an entrance fee.

Pricing

Rates are not published on the family page. Contact them directly or check the pricing section on the site, and mention family dates early since capacity for families is limited by room type.

One of the few colivings where turning up with children is the point rather than the exception.
