Locoworking: four studios on Samara beach
Locoworking is in Samara, a Pacific coast town on Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula, and describes itself as the country's first coworking and coliving. It is small, with four private studios, and the coworking side serves the wider local community as well as residents.
What Locoworking Does
- Four private studios. No dorms, so the house stays quiet and small.
- Reported 300 Mbps internet. Genuinely fast for a Costa Rican beach town, where this is the main constraint.
- Green-season discounts. April to October, the rainier months, are cheaper.
- A coworking space open to others. Which brings local freelancers and other travellers through.
- From around 680 dollars a month. With tailored packages quoted on request.
Why It Makes Sense for Nomads
Costa Rica is the most stable and easiest country in Central America to spend time in, with a well-established digital nomad visa, good healthcare and a strong environmental record. The Nicoya Peninsula is one of the world's blue zones, where people live unusually long lives.
Samara is the practical choice on that coast: a proper town with a swimmable bay, calm enough for beginners to surf, and far less developed than Tamarindo. The nickname the operator uses, the black hole of happiness, is a local joke about people arriving for a week and staying months.
Internet is the thing to check anywhere on this coast, and 300 Mbps is well above the norm. Green season is cheaper and greener, with rain usually concentrated in the afternoon.
