NomadTogether is a podcast, ebook and community for location-independent families, run by Paul and Becky Kortman, who travelled the world with four children and now overland through Mexico in an RV. The Family Freedom Guidebook covers the unglamorous half of the lifestyle: income, insurance, mail forwarding and schooling options. It is one of the few resources that treats international travel and RV life as the same problem.

NomadTogether: the logistics half of family location independence

What NomadTogether Does

  • The NomadTogether Podcast: a long-running show on location independence for families, covering worldschooling, unschooling, remote work and running a business from anywhere.
  • The Family Freedom Guidebook: an ebook on the parts nobody blogs about, work and income strategies, health and insurance, mail solutions, and education options for the children.
  • A free Facebook community: Location Independent Families, for the questions that need an answer today.
  • A newsletter: tools, articles and practical updates.
  • Both lifestyles covered: the Kortmans did a round-the-world trip with four children and then went overlanding through Mexico in an RV, so the content spans flights and campgrounds equally.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

The questions that actually stop families leaving are boring ones. What happens to your post. Whether your insurance covers a broken arm in Guatemala. How you bank when you have no fixed address. Whether the schooling arrangement will still work in three years. This is the resource organised around exactly those, and the guidebook is structured as a checklist rather than a narrative.

The range is the other reason to read it. Almost every family nomad resource picks a lane, international or RV, and the advice quietly assumes it. Having done both, the Kortmans can be specific about which parts transfer and which do not, which saves you discovering the difference the expensive way.

With four children in the mix, the content also scales past the common one or two child assumption that a lot of family travel writing rests on.

The podcast, Facebook group and newsletter are free. The Family Freedom Guidebook is a paid ebook.
