Nomadmum is a family travel blog written by Lulu, a German journalist and mother of two who has been based in Thailand since 2019. It covers destination guides, packing and budgeting hacks, worldschooling, visas and remote work for parents who want to travel long term with their children. Every guide is written from places the family has actually visited rather than compiled from press releases.

Nomadmum: family travel advice from a mum who actually does it

What Nomadmum Does

  • Destination guides for families: in-depth write-ups of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Bali and Cape Town, focused on what changes when you arrive with kids rather than on generic sightseeing.
  • Practical logistics: packing lists, budgeting breakdowns, flight and accommodation hacks, and the small operational details that decide whether a month abroad is pleasant or exhausting.
  • Worldschooling and education: how the family handles schooling on the road, what the realistic options are, and what it costs.
  • Visas and remote work: the paperwork side of moving a household between countries, plus how to earn while doing it.
  • A free ebook: How to Become Digital Nomad, sent to newsletter subscribers.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Most digital nomad content assumes one adult with a laptop and a carry-on. Nomadmum is written from the other situation, where there are car seats, school hours, nap times and a partner whose work also has to fit. Lulu is a trained journalist, so the guides are structured and checkable rather than a stream of holiday photos, and she has been based in Thailand since 2019, which means the Southeast Asia coverage comes from living there rather than from a two-week visit.

The blog is also a good sanity check before committing. If you are still deciding whether family nomadism is realistic, the honest posts about cost, schooling and burnout are more useful than another list of the cheapest countries.

Pricing

The blog and the ebook are free. Some posts carry affiliate links, which is how the site is funded.
