NOMAG

NOMAG

Categories

NOMAG is a Substack publication about digital nomad life, billed as "Not a (Digital Nomad) Magazine". It runs essays, news and interviews on remote work, travel and nomad culture, plus The Nomag Pulse, a crowdsourced newsletter of reader stories, tips and adventures. Most of it is free to read, with an optional paid subscription.

NOMAG: not a digital nomad magazine

NOMAG is a reader-supported publication on Substack about nomadic life, run by Nomag Media Ltd. The name is a joke at its own expense: the team tried to fit itself into a recognisable online format, decided nothing fit, and settled on "Not a (Digital Nomad) Magazine". What is left is a steady stream of writing about remote work, travel and the people doing both.

What NOMAG Does

  • Essays and reporting on the parts of nomad life that guides skip: burnout, belonging, visa politics, and whether any of this is sustainable.
  • The Nomag Pulse is the crowdsourced strand. Readers send in their own stories, insights and adventures, and the newsletter stitches them together, so the perspective is not just one editor's.
  • Nomadic Minds Think Alike collects interviews and conversations with other people building a life around remote work.
  • A Partners section for companies in the remote-work space, which is how the publication funds itself alongside subscriptions.
  • Audio versions of articles through the Substack app, useful on a travel day.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Most nomad media is either a listicle farm or a personal blog that stops updating after the honeymoon year. NOMAG sits between the two: it publishes often enough to be a habit, but the writing is opinionated rather than SEO-shaped. If you already know where to buy travel insurance and how a nomad visa works, this is the one that talks about what the life actually feels like once the logistics are solved.

It is also worth reading if you are building something for nomads. The Pulse is effectively a rolling, unfiltered survey of what readers are doing and complaining about, which is harder to get anywhere else.

Pricing

Most posts are free to read, and subscribing to the newsletter costs nothing. There is an optional paid tier on Substack for readers who want to support the publication; check the site for current rates.

Read it for the argument, not the checklist.
