Northliving: the High Coast of Sweden
Northliving is a coliving in Haggdanger in the Hoga Kusten, the High Coast region of northern Sweden, right by the coastline. It is run by Sarah, a German social media manager who lived in colivings across Europe before deciding to build one in Sweden.
What Northliving Does
- Private rooms from around 870 euros a month. Or 32 euros a night, with a six night minimum.
- Reported 500 Mbps internet. Which makes the remoteness workable.
- A single host on site. Owner-run, which the reviews reflect at 5.0 across nine.
- Year-round activities. The region works in every season, with very different offerings in each.
- A Hoga Kusten location. A UNESCO World Heritage coastline of forest, cliffs and islands.
Why It Makes Sense for Nomads
The High Coast is one of Scandinavia's most striking landscapes and one of the least visited. It is UNESCO listed for its post-glacial rebound, the fastest land uplift on earth, and in practice it means forested hills dropping into the Gulf of Bothnia.
Sweden is expensive, and 870 euros a month for a private room with fast internet in a coastal house is a fraction of what a Stockholm rental costs.
Two honest points. Northern Swedish winters are dark and cold, with limited daylight in December, and summers are the opposite, with light almost around the clock. Both are experiences rather than problems, but pick your season deliberately. The six night minimum makes a trial week easy.
