Pachamama: a farmstay above Kotor Bay

Pachamama is a farm retreat in Ukropci, in the hills above Kotor Bay in Montenegro. The name means Mother Earth, and the setup follows: an eco-farm where an international community shares farm-to-table meals and everyday life, with retreats and venue hire alongside the coliving.

What Pachamama Does

  • Coliving, retreats and venue hire. Three ways to use the same property, including bringing your own group.
  • Seasonal pricing with a wide spread. Low season from November to April is roughly 695 to 784 euros a month shared and 985 to 1,388 private; May to October rises to 986 to 1,680 shared and 1,993 to 2,979 private.
  • Farm-to-table meals. Grown on site and eaten together, which is the centre of the daily rhythm.
  • A 14 night minimum. Long enough to settle into farm life.
  • Year-round operation. Unlike most of the Montenegrin coast.

Why It Makes Sense for Nomads

Kotor Bay is one of the most beautiful places in Europe, and being above it rather than in it means you get the view without the cruise ship crowds. Montenegro is cheap, generous with visa-free stays, and central to the Balkans.

The seasonal pricing is the thing to plan around. Winter here is roughly a third of the summer rate for the same room, and the bay in winter is quiet, green and mild. If your dates are flexible, the low season is dramatically better value.

The 229 reviews at 4.8 make this one of the better-evidenced places in this directory. Farm life is the actual offer, so expect animals, mud and shared work rather than a hotel.

Pricing

Low season shared rooms around 695 to 784 euros a month, private 985 to 1,388. High season shared 986 to 1,680, private 1,993 to 2,979. Fourteen night minimum.

Come in winter: same bay, same farm, a third of the price.
